Actors Equity

Actors' Equity Association ("AEA" or "Equity"), founded in 1913, is the labor union that represents more than 45,000 Actors and Stage Managers in the United States. Equity seeks to advance, promote and foster the art of live theatre as an essential component of our society. Equity negotiates wages and working conditions and provides a wide range of benefits, including health and pension plans, for its members. Actors' Equity is a member of the AFL-CIO, and is affiliated with FIA, an international organization of performing arts unions.

It changes in response to the needs of artists and informs and engages the public about their work. Today, Art in General fulfills its mission through a variety of ways, including the organization and presentation of exhibitions, hosting a national and international artist residency program, and through educational in-school art training, regular public programs and membership events.

Recognized nationally as a leading arts service organization in providing cultural services and arts programs, BCA serves a multicultural constituency in excess of 1.2 million residents. BCA provides an array of services to 5,000 artists and more than 250 arts and community-based organizations.

New Dance Group

In 1932, in the midst of economic and political upheaval following the Great Depression, a group of visionary dancers and choreographers dedicated to social action through dance and the arts formed New Dance Group. Their mission was to foster the performing arts and provide a safe environment for artists to explore, develop, and perform.

The New York City Arts Coalition is a membership network of arts professionals and arts supporters organized for education, advocacy and public policy development in the nonprofit arts field. Membership is open to all not-for-profit arts groups, arts professionals and individual supporters of the arts. The New York City Arts Coalition promotes a broad awareness of the arts in the life of the city. It encourages leaders and elected officials to protect the creative freedom of the arts community and to support adequate appropriations for the arts in the city, state and federal budgets.
